No PS3 Price Cut Till 2008, PlayStation “Home” Delayed

Filed under General news and Rants, ps3 on September 20th, 2007

During Sony’s press conference at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, the industry giant said that PlayStation Home, PS3’s avatar-based network, is delayed until spring 2008.

More importantly, the company suggested there will be no PS3 price cut in 2007. Talking about the console’s price, Sony’s President and Group CEO, Kaz Hirai, confirmed there will be “no surprise in this regard this year.” He also added: “Price is a very important aspect, but at the same time the urgent matter is to what extent we can further enrich the software titles.”

Given the PS3’s lacklustre hardware sales and underwhelming software line-up, the decision to stick with the console’s $599 USD price tag will disappoint many as the Holiday season approaches.
