Well one more Game Corp. Down the crapper

Filed under General news and Rants, PC News on June 12th, 2007

Well the End is near Valve will be taking over the gaming world soon. One day you will not be able to get away from the Bug ridden, almost always having problems, piece of crap called Steam. How long before Steam puts ads in your Favorite games?

Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, and Valve® today announced an agreement that brings a collection of Capcom’s current and future PC games to Valve’s Steam digital distribution service. Under the arrangement, PC versions of Lost Planet™: Extreme Condition, Onimusha® 3, Devil May Cry® 3: Special Edition, Super Puzzle FighterTM II Turbo HD Remix, and future PC titles will be made available via the leading online distribution platform. Capcom is the first major Japanese software publisher to sign on with Steam.“Capcom is a worldwide leader in development and publishing of action adventure titles,” said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. “This initial set of Capcom titles coming to Steam, as well as those coming at a later date, are a perfect fit for the millions of action gaming fans connecting to Steam each week.”

Steam is the only full-featured broadband platform for the delivery and management of games and digital content, and has pioneered its broadband services to over 13 million customers with core and casual games from today’s leading publishers and developers.

“With the PC market becoming a larger part of our business, we’re naturally focusing our attention on digital distribution,” said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer, Capcom American and European consumer software publishing. “Steam is the right place for us to go with our titles. Valve has created a huge installed base of gamers who naturally fit with the profiles of the titles that Capcom develops.”

Available later this week, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is an action game that follows the stylish demon-slayer Dante as he uses swords and guns to wage a nonstop, one-man battle against the demon world in order to carry out a 2000 year-old revenge. Coming in the next few weeks, Onimusha 3 is an action game that travels in time between the 16th century Japan and modern-day Paris, pitting two heroes (one a samurai, the other a modern-day fighter played by actor Jean Reno) against a horde of other-dimensional evil. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a critically-acclaimed third person action game from an all-star team of Capcom’s game designers, will be available day and date with the retail version of the PC game, currently scheduled for June 26. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix downloads Capcom’s incredibly popular puzzle game into the new generation, featuring enhanced 1080p HD graphics, several new game modes, improved game balance, and online play and will be available later this year.

Video game systems and the rise of drug use!

Filed under Featured, General news and Rants, Xbox, ps3, wii on May 14th, 2007

With all the data we as a society track now days this is one that has been over looked. All the talk about violent video games and what they are doing to our kids, I thought I would look at the numbers a little more. Scanning the U.S. Department of Justice crime numbers thinking I would not find anything new. I found something so crazy that I could not even believe what I was looking at. If you will look at the numbers you will see what I see. Full Story »

Halo 3 Betalicious Video

Filed under General news and Rants on April 4th, 2007

I am not a Halo player but I must say this looks kick ass. Here is what Bungie has to say about this video.

Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t… but around Microsoft, Mr. Jukes has established a name for himself as a tireless, hardcore and fanatical player of Halo who isn’t too shabby in the video production department either

Over the last few months, Jukes’ logged an incredible (bordering on inhuman) amount of games through the internal Alpha and Beta tests for Halo 3 and he was just as involved in the first ever Halo 2 online tests as well. In addition to playing the games, Mr. Jukes also became known for his entertaining videos - most of which focused on jumping. Yes, jumping. It doesn’t sound like much but some of the jumps and tricks he pulls in the games had to be seen to be believed.

Before you check out Mr. Jukes’ Halo 3 video debut, please keep in mind that this video was produced using the internal beta version of Halo 3. This means it’s a bit older than what the rest of the world will start playing in the next few days. It also means that it has all sorts of debug text all over it - this won’t be in the version you get your hands on. And, this was fully sanctioned and approved by Bungie - unlike some of those other “leaked” videos that have ended up online.
